Homes of Hope has gone through many iterations of ideas, but at the heart of it is developmentally appropriate, evidence based trauma-informed care for children and youth (birth- 21 years) who have experienced trauma, significant loss and/or mental health challenges, what we refer to as “youth in crisis”.
Home of Hope includes an approach to care of children as well as the provision of services and care to youth.
Homes of Hope exists to foster the belief in every child that he/she has the right and capability to thrive. To overcome the worst of situations and to have a life that is fulfilling and meaningful.
We believe that hope is a powerful force that becomes particularly salient during challenging situations. When the proverbial “odds are stacked” against an individual, it is at this point that hope seems to become a relevant value. Research has consistently shown that hope facilitates positive outcomes and given the challenges faced by our target group (youth in crisis), we want them to know that their tomorrow’s can be better.
